5 Sunday randoms.

It's Sunday and while I'm glad it's Sunday, I'm not so glad to work tonight. #lifeofahealthcareworker

Anywho. I'm feeling really random today as I write this blog at noon and still haven't left my pajamas and probably won't until I have to work tonight.

1. So after I figured out that I'm not doing this whole concealer thing right.. remember this post. Well I finally went to the Youtube videos for makeup tips. It's really crazy how makeup trends constantly change, either that or I've been doing it wrong this entire time. Which is completely possible.

Anyways, my coworkers helped me find these, by Jaclyn Hill. She is amazing. This video below is her concealer and foundation video, I'm definitely going to try this very soon.

2.  SO. I've started my christmas list... This. I love this so much. It's tiny and dainty and I love it. It's from Dogeared

3. In case you were ever wondering about the other Blue Apron meals... here's the one with the Cod and the blue potatoes.....

Let me just tell you. It definitely wasn't my favorite. I actually ended up canceling my Blue Apron Membership because the next dish which was the Peperonata with fried egg over polenta was almost the exact same recipe(peppers, tomato sauce, sherry), Except over polenta.  (Sorry I forgot to take the picture for the polenta. )

Well I wasn't about to make the same mistake twice so I nixed the tomato sauce and sherry vinegar with the polenta recipe and it was heaven. Matt didn't like either one of them, so rather than spend $60/week for some random recipe. I'll go ahead and do some research on Pinterest for new meals.

I'm still glad I tried Blue Apron though, I think everyone should try something at least once.

4. Did you know that the Flu Shot can give you the following side effects

  • Soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given
  • Fever (low grade)
  • Aches
I can tell you first hand the flu shot is capable of giving you all of these symptoms, because I got my flu shot on Friday (big mistake) and was basically in bed all weekend. Don't worry I've slept for the past 15 hours. *** you should still get the shot,to help ward off the flu***

5. My workout summary for this past week:

Monday: Ran 3 miles on the treadmill! Ran 2 of 3 miles without stopping. I'm kind of proud of that, since i'm not a real runner... not yet anyway!

Tuesday: SPIN!

Wednesday: Rest.

Thursday: SPIN!

Friday: Ran .5 miles before I got bored, so I did a random boot camp workout. It was 78% mountain climbers along with random squats and abs. It was intense, but I was glad I was motivated to complete all of it.

Sat/Sun: This + being miserable.

Bonus random:

I did feel well enough to make waffles and coffee this morning, Matt is a lucky man. I already feel like this day will be victorious.

I hope your Sunday is wonderful!

Talk to me:

Do you get the flu shot every year?

Have you ever gotten the side effects from the flu shot?

Do you ever go to You tube videos to try new beauty tips/regimens?

A Rainy day, a Run and Ramen.

Do you have a pet that always gravitates toward one thing in your house? For me, Lou kitty has gravitated toward this blanket since Matt brought it home from Korea. It feels like fur and when it touches your skin it feels so cool. My cat has good taste at least.

Lou kitty is OBSESSED.

You know it's gonna be a good blog post when I start it out talking about my cats. Ok, well maybe that's just me.

So I wanted to go to boot camp for one of my last workouts with my trainer, but it started raining.

Let me tell you, RAIN= NO MOTIVATION. Feeling a workout guilt coming on I noticed there is a treadmill basically two feet from my living room. I did get on the treadmill and knocked out 3 miles while watching reruns of Mindy project, yes she motivates me to keep running when I definitely wanted to crawl back in bed. I was proud of myself. This rarely happens.

At least it was a pretty view.

Another cat lady moment: My cat loves my nasty, sweaty hair. He rubs his whole face and body on my head.. and licks my hair. Gross/funny/loving at the same time. Don't judge me, I let him do this for 15 minutes and might have taken a short video.

Oh yeah. I cooked last night. I made the fancy ramen recipe. The only thing that went bad before I got to use it was the arugula. I guess I didn't make it fast enough. It was delicious. Blue Apron you did not disappoint in this ramen recipe. However, If you are salt sensitive, you might want to cut down on the soy sauce, there is a lot of seasoning in this packed with salt.

Here is the recipe and the picture.

I think I pretty much nailed it... Matt was extremely impressed and ate his entire bowl in less than 10 minutes.

Fast forward to this morning!

This morning I woke up and opened my windows. I couldn't believe how amazing it felt outside, don't mind the raining.

There is something about cats and the weather change, they know.

Today was one of the most peaceful mornings. It was so peaceful, I was late for spin, but I did make it, despite the rain. You'd be proud.

Don't forget to be awesome today!

Let's just put pumpkin in everything.

Happy First day of Fall Y'all!!!

#PSL  #sweaters #boots... I still hate hashtags.

All the things autumn. It's all the rage. Right now.

Yes. I will be doing all the things mentioned in the hashtags and this meme. I'm even putting up my fall decor this week.

I however will be holding off the famous PSL until October 1st or until the fall weather kicks in or doesn't look like this in Charleston....

Things I've done today:

I also went to a venipuncture class (where your nurse gives you an IV/or steals blood from you) for my job this morning. Let me tell you nurses are just as afraid to stick you, as you are of them sticking you, ok?! Or at least I will be the nurse that is anyways.

Be a responsible adult by calling the maintenance people to fix my fridge. I've put off calling someone about my noisy ass fridge for weeks. Possibly months if you count the time that it started. They came by and fixed it in 5 minutes. Thank goodness.

I had a nap. A long two hour nap. Naps are awesome. And hold my crankiness to a minimum.

Pretty awesome for a Monday, if I do say so myself.

I want to know:

Are you usually productive on Mondays?

Do you have a case of the Mondays today?!

Costco, shipment, and cats in boxes.

I'm convinced Saturdays were made for Costco trips.

Saturdays have the best samples out on EVERY. SINGLE. AISLE. or at least they do at the Costco here in Charleston. I was pretty much full with samples by the time we left, but still happened to get a ginormous slice of pizza. I get hangry fast so it was necessary.

Christmas stuff is already out at Costco! I'm specifically ignoring all the christmas grinches out there. I love Christmas and am very excited for it this year because this year we are staying at home and not traveling! Anyone knows that living over 1000 miles from home knows how hectic it gets traveling for the holidays and I'm glad to know I won't be doing it this year!

Sidenote: my husband, Matt,  is obsessed with bears, we take lots of picture of bears in this house.

I would have taken more pictures of random awesome things at Costco, but Matt was making me feel  awkward yesterday for taking them in public.

Solution: I have to get more stealthy about taking pictures in public.

I got go my shipment in from Blue Apron! I was so excited! I got three meals for the week! It was delivered pretty early. I was very surprised how fresh all the ingredients looked, and you know parsley starts looking old fast.

Our meals for the week include:
  • Seared Cod Piperade with roasted blue potatoes and parsley almond sauce.
  • Peperonata and Fried eggs with Creamy Parmesan Polenta.
  • Chicken Hiyashi Chuka with fresh ramen and summer vegetables. (fancy ramen?! omg! my 20 year old self would be proud)
The food comes complete with the recipe as well as step by step instructions with pictures. It's so cool. Tonight I will be making the Peperonata and Fried Eggs. I'm so excited!!

Hopefully, my meals come out as pretty as the pictures. I will keep you updated with how they come out.

****I'm not being paid by Blue Apron to review this.. I wish I was, I just wanted to add recipes to the 10 revolving recipes I currently use.***

My cats like to be creepy in the boxes. They look forward to big shipments.

It clearly doesn't matter the size of the box.

Gizmo is now glorifying his shaved arm. That fur is growing back so slow.

I hope your Sunday is wonderful, ours contains football.

Friday talks.

So it's been a heck of a week. This is my first day coming off the night shift for the last few days. I think I might be getting the hang of this.

Several things happened this week:

1. New Girl and Mindy project are BACK! My world is complete again.

2. It was my favorite brother's birthday yesterday.. Ok he's my only brother but if I had another brother he would be my favorite. Anyways. This kid is now 22. Nothing like your younger siblings getting older to make you feel real old. Some of my favorite memories of my little brother are memories of making him do embarrassing dance moves to Cher songs and chorographing most of the Aqua songs, you know the group that gave America the barbie girl song?!

In case you are wondering.. that is my brother's face on a sloth's body. I had my husband spend hours perfecting this on photoshop. We are a strange family, i'm aware.

3. I got to spend time with my dad this week. We celebrated his 61st birthday on Monday! It's a week of family birthdays!

4. I was made aware this week that i'm doing this concealer thing all wrong and this is the best concealer around. Do you see what time in the morning I was searching for this? All the glories of night shift, people.

I may be getting used to night shift, but my under eyes say something completely different. Yes, I kind of look crazy without concealer and lately I just look exhausted by the end of my shift. And YES, I will be spending $20 on concealer. I feel this is necessary.

5. This kitty kind of missed me this week. This was some snuggles before my night shift.

Oh thank goodness it's Friday. This weekend will consist of sleeping, chili's date with the hubs, and season 3 of NEW GIRL ON NETFLIX. My heart is overflowing with joy.

I hope you will be doing something amazing this weekend!

I want to know the following:

Do you watch New Girl or mindy project?!

What kind of concealer do you use?!

Any night shifters on here?

Why I'm blogging and not cleaning my house.

It's noon and i'm still in my pajamas.

Y'all my house is disgusting. I've worked three days in a row, one of which was a 12 hour shift. I haven't worked out in two days and I feel like crap. I have until 5-ish to get this house in order and the guest bedroom ready for my dad who is staying the weekend.

At some point today, I will also have to go to the grocery store too.

Sometimes you just know you have a crap ton of stuff to do and just can't find the will to do it, well putting it off for 30 more minutes won't hurt. Procrastinators unite... tomorrow.

I'd just much rather chat with you fine people.

This week I've been watching... you guessed it. Netflix. I'm watching House of Cards. First off, I didn't even look at this show, because I A. don't care about politics, and B. refer to A. Anywho, I started watching and OH. MY. GOODNESS. Excellent show! It's more of a drama of politicians who are super conniving and manipulative with some politics in the background. Also, it has Kevin Spacey in it. If you need a show to watch while waiting for the usual shows to come back in the fall, watch it.

So i've been trying to put off the pumpkin craze until October, but i'm really caving that in department.

I've love Blue Moon and think it's an excellent beer anyways, but adding pumpkin to it = Genius!

I'm not day drinking, I promise!
I am however, not going to get the famous PSL until October, I want to savor the pumpkin season this year and not hate pumpkin by the end of it... Yes, it happened to me two years ago and i'm still trying to recover.. #firstworldproblems #ihateusinghashtags #ihateevenmoresayingfirstworldproblems

This. All day long.

How freaking cute is this bag?! That is most regal cat. I will tell you right now, my husband bought me this bag... at World Market! I don't know if you can find this online, but definitely go look in the store.

Can you say bonus points?!

Anywho, so I'm definitely going to put on these bad boys, and get some fresh air. I'm hoping it won't be hotter than hell outside, but I'm going to be eating horrible this weekend and need to at least clear some of the plaque out of my arteries to make room for some of that pumpkin ale later on.

Here's also to hoping this run puts some productivity in my life!

TGIF!

Post spin class thoughts

Hello September.

I can't even believe I just typed that, time just keeps on flying. So time for an update this week. My goodness my spin workout today really kicked my bum. (I took last week off to make sure my cat didn't croak, and he's still here. No worries, he made it through that awful respiratory virus.)
He still looks a little pathetic, but at least he's super chatty this week.

Have you gone to a workout that you really had to make yourself go? That was me yesterday. I can tell you right now, I didn't give it my all. We even had a partner workout yesterday and LOVE partner workouts, but I really just wanted to go home. Still mad at myself for it, but going to spin today really helped move that lactic acid out of my muscles and got me to forgive myself.

3 cool things:

1. I went to one of my favorite bloggers website, Hungry Runner Girl and she is doing a giveaway. She is promoting Blue Apron. Basically it's this company that sends you food for 3 meals and it can feed anywhere from 2-6 people, based on what your preference. It kind of gets you thinking out of the box for the meals you cook and if you cook the same 10 meals over and over again in your house, it will get you out of the rut!  For the first 50 readers or so, you can try two free meals, you still have to pay $40 for the rest of the box, but hey it's really cool and I'm definitely trying it out. I'll will let you know how it goes.  Go check it out!

2. It's restaurant week here in Charleston. This week does me in, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. But I'm kind of thankful it's here this week because my dad is coming all the way from Texas to visit me and now we can eat at so many yummy places! How this week works: on the Charleston Restaurant week association website you can view all the restaurants participating and they will have a set menu you can choose from. These options might include an appetizer, main course and dessert for $20, $30, or fancier restaurants $40. It's kind of cool to go somewhere fancy for less. I've noticed other states are starting to do too, look around in your area for it. I love it.

3. I think this is pretty self explanatory.  Y'all know my love for countdowns.

Now my life is calming down a bit with my cat getting better, now I can focus on the quality of working out. I think another reason i'm in a workout rut, is because i've been doing basically the same thing for months, at least since the end of February with boot camp. I recently noticed a new workout facility in my area called Title Boxing club. My husband used to box for AF and he has really encouraged me to at least try it. He said the workouts are amazing and he got a lot of out of them. He might try these with me, let's see how ridiculously competitive he gets..  I know if I don't like it I can always go back to my normal bootcamp routine.

Seeing things like this always get my perspective back where it needs to be.

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone got through Monday ok!

Questions for you!!!

Have you ever tried Blue apron?!

What do you do when you're in a workout rut?
