Fright nights with my Golden Girls.

"Thank you for being a friend. Traveled down the road and back again" never meant so much.

One of my "golden girls" told me this and I absolutely couldn't agree more. I can't believe this Nursing school journey is nearly complete.

Sometimes, you just meet  people in your life, who just make sense.

Who completely understand you without question.

Who take up for you when you really need it.

Who always stay in your corner and never leave now matter what it is.

When you find these people. Don't ever let them go. They are truly golden and that's just not
something you find very often these days. As I write this, I am constantly thinking of all the tough
times nursing school and life has thrown at me. Some stuff completely trivial and some stuff too heavy to carry on my own.

When we were picking what we should dress up as for "fun". We didn't realize we were picking to be ladies that were best friends from a generation of people that literally stayed friends forever. In a generation where friends stuck together and didn't let trivial things come in between them because at the end of the day friendships were treated like gold.

Believe me when I say this, I just had that realization two seconds before I wrote this. My hope and prayers are that we can continue this friendship for our lives, no matter where that leads us.

How freaking fabulous are we?! From left to right: Sophia, Dorothy, Rose, and Blanche.

I really feel like we nailed it.

Blanche Devereaux needed a selfie. This fabulous frock was purchased at Goodwill and will promptly be donated right back!

Let's turn back time to Wednesday night.

On Wednesday night, we went to a haunted house/trail ride and it was soooo much fun.
If you are ever in Charleston, SC near Halloween, you have to go to the Fright Nights at Boone Hall plantation.

But first we had a nice nursing family dinner at Cracker Barrel.

Yes. I'm still on a cleanse. It was difficult but I did find something to eat. OK, so I cheated. OH THE SHAME. I ate a corn muffin with BUTTA. I'm back on the wagon today and have moved on from the incident.

On to the fright night!!!

Here's to all the crazy. I love every minute.

Hope you guys have an awesome Halloween and I hope you're having a blast.

The first day is always the hardest.

Been up since 5 am, and no coffee. Hello Advocare 24 day challenge!

Yes, you read that right, NO COFFEE. This struggle is real.

For the past 3 weeks, I have literally eaten what ever the hell i've wanted, while it's been yummy... I've gained some weight and I don't just mean by the numbers on the scale. My mind is heavier as well. GUILT. My clothes are a little tighter and I have much less energy. I'm not at the physically active capacity, I was at three weeks ago. MORE GUILT.

I have some work to do.
Rather than beat myself up, I will get over it and move on.

Today was a clinical day and I was soooo tired this morning. 5am came wayyy too fast. I quickly made a cup of hot green tea with stevia and my spark. I am using Grape Spark! I think it's the best flavor out of all of them. I am still going to have something warm to drink in the morning to fill my coffee void.. It's a large void, people. I've read some people warm up their spark?! is that a thing?

Weird.

I also coughed down my wonderful Peaches and cream fiber drink. Peaches and cream is exponentially better than the Citrus fiber drink. Just take my word for it.

Breakfast: 1 egg, 2 egg whites, whole grain toast and half of a banana. After all the green tea and spark it was hard to think about eating anything else. Which is completely out of character for me, but I was rolling with it.

Lunch: I conveniently was too tired to make lunch. Lame. It was hospital salad bar for lunch! It wasn't that bad, but I definitely will be making a tastier lunch for the next clinical day, this is the only way i'll get through this.

Snack: I got home from clinical and was absolutely ravenous. I knew I had to get some kind of workout in, but I needed to replenish, I ate carrots and guac. Weirdest combo ever, but it kinda worked for me. I had another Spark and ran out the door for a workout.

Dinner:  was pretty tasty though. I made chicken on the George Foreman and roasted asparagus and broccoli. I ate it as slow I could to be full as possible and not want for any sweets. This is my struggle. I eat WAY too fast.

I probably won't post what I eat every day, but I do want to feel accountable some how, Don't worry you'll probably hear a lot of bitching and complaining.

Eat Oreos for me, please?

Hope you rocked your Monday!

Saturday meanderings.

Happy Saturday, People. You made it to the weekend!

This week went by too fast, hey, I'm not complaining. One week of nursing school underneath my belt and only 6 weeks to go!

Here are my girls, who are always here for me no matter what. LOVE them. We are a dysfunctional family.

So now that i've started school again, I have more of a schedule again. This only means that I need to get my butt back in gear. I have not had any motivation to workout. NONE.

I had to DRAAAAG, myself out of the house to even get this run in. I hate this rut that i'm in.

This past week I ran two days. In these two days, I ran 4.75 miles. I hate when I take a long break from working out and have to work back up to where I was.

Some weeks, I'll feel super ambitious about working out and then there are days where I don't want to get off the couch. Any body feel me out there?!

I am however, starting the Advocare 24 day challenge on MONDAY! The hubs and I didn't plan the timing out very well on this challenge, it will span over HALLOWEEN and my birthday( oh 27, how you linger). UGH. Hopefully this will make us more accountable over the holidays when everything usually goes out the window. I really want to see what my body can do when I stop feeding it crap.

Disclaimer: I will not be drinking coffee for 24 days. This will be interesting, everyone by now should know how addicted to coffee I am.

Plus, I need to look amazing in my WHITE pinning dress for graduation. Everyone knows how white is the most unforgiving color ever, and I will be covered in white, head to toe.

Everyone have an amazing weekend, I hope you spend it doing Halloween things!

This is what I want to know from you:

What do you do in a workout rut?!

How do you drag yourself to do a workout?

Do you just take the break and worry about it later?

How do you push yourself?!

**Actual disclaimer: I don't sell or work for Advocare, I paid and am doing this challenge on my own accord***

Smells like a college rejection letter.

Don't worry not mine.. look below you'll see what I'm talking about.

I've been really bad at this blogging thing lately, what's even worse is I haven't been to the gym in 3 weeks, I've been really bad at that too.

Remember a million posts ago when I was like, uh ya I'm totally going to do a cleanse? Well we have bit the bullet and am finally trying out Advocare's 24 day challenge. Yes, It was a million dollars to do, but after eating 187937 consecutive meals at various mexican food restaurants for a week straight, I need to get back on track. I've found so many people this has helped, not to mention one of my new favorite blogs to read... The Lunchbox Diaries, she writes about her experience, as well as one of my all time favorite blogs to read, Mama Laughlin, who swears by Advocare.  Anywho, it's worth a shot, and I intend to share my experience with y'all!

To break up all the words.

These cats have been all over us since we've gotten back from our trip. I think it's safe to say they missed us.

Please ignore all the laundry you might see.

This cat has been especially needy.

So I've been working a lot lately to pay for Gizmo's vet bills from here. As a result of this, there has been more interwebs surfing than normal. Ok, obscene amounts, but I mean working a 12 hour night shift in a hospital is a little less busy, so a little more down time..

I stumbled upon this company and these candles.

DIED
LAUGHING.
AND nearly woke up all my patients. Go Here, you won't regret it, unless you're not sarcastic and don't have a sense of humor.

A little bit of normalcy is about to enter my life again, School is starting back tomorrow. Oh i'm so pumped and annoyed at the same time. It's the very last class of nursing school and I'm just wanting all the paperwork bs of being a nursing student over already.

If anyone in nursing school ever tells you, " oh it's not that bad". They are straight up lying to you and should be punched in the face promptly. The paperwork is ridiculous.

Anywho, I've just spent about a million dollars in paying for my NCLEX fees (boards to be an RN) as well as teeny tiny fees to the state of Texas. I'm just ready to rock this test and be done.

December 16 really needs to get here fast.

My Goal today: going to at least run a mile.

Talk to me:

What is your goal today?!

Can anyone believe October is almost over?!

16348739247328 things happened last week.

Slight exaggeration.

A lot of stuff did go into last week though. I went to Texas and am just now recovering from my Mexican food coma. I probably ate at 7 different mexican food restaurants while at home. We did a multitude of other things that included visiting family/ friends, attending a wedding, and enjoying time being in our hometown. It doesn't sound like a lot, but 7 days was definitely not enough time to hang out with everyone.

I got to see my family last week and it was heaven. You never realize how much you miss someone until you don't see them on a normal basis.

My brother and I at the Shipwreck Grill in Bryan, TX. If you are ever in the small town of Bryan, Check this place out. It's one of the best places to get crawfish étouffée or oysters on the half-shell.

At the reception, well kind of.. waiting for the bride and groom. Didn't have my phone for most of the wedding..

Apparently parking lot beers are completely acceptable in Texas. ** No worries I did not partake **

Has anyone ever been to Buc-ee's?! This is actually a gas station that has a country store in it. It's really kind of amazing. There are all kinds of things in here. They sell some of the best breakfast tacos i've ever had.

How awesome is this?! This is definitely on our christmas list!

No trip is ever complete without a Buc-ee's hat picture.

So if you don't already know this, my husband is obsessed with bears. He won't admit it, but he is. So every time I see a big bear, I ALWAYS make him take a picture!

My brother is gonna kill me for this one.

Hello, Blog meet Scarlett! I got to meet my sweet niece. I haven't been home since my sister was pregnant and had her. She is the sweetest baby in the world and I've loved her long before she was here! #proudauntstatusrighthere

When you're away from home for awhile, new, awesome places decide to come like Bahama Bucks. It's a snow cone joint and an awesome one at that. They have at least 100 flavors. This is the smallest one they have and I still felt like it was too much. I definitely recommend the wedding cake and birthday cake flavors. AMAZING.

Don't worry an umbrella is included in each snow cone.

Last but not least, I got to see this guy, my BFF Dan. This is one of my longest friends I've ever had, we've known each other since 3rd grade. I don't keep up with many of my high school friends anymore, but he is definitely the exception. It meant the world to me to just see him for a couple hours for lunch.

This was from the USO in Houston. I was SO thankful for this organization, they give military members and their spouses/family a place to relax in the airport for layovers and such, it was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyone else for a bit.

This was an incredible trip. I was so happy to see everyone and get to hangout. Now that the trip is over and we are back in Charleston,  and have a lot to do to preparing for our upcoming move to the fabulous Los Angeles.

Talk to me:

Anybody have any vacation trips coming up?!

Has anyone been to a Buc-ee's?

Y'all guess what?!!

We got our new base location.

We are moving to.....

I'm kinda excited about it. We will be living near the Trader Joe's/Whole foods/bougie shop mecca of this side of the US.

I've always wanted to live on this side of the country and have NEVER even been on the west coast. I'm really interested in how I will adjust to the time change, not to mention all the craziness of the city life.

I'm sure moving the cats over 2000 miles will also be joyous. (note sarcasm here)

We will be moving here in March 2015. Crazy how times flies, I feel like we just got to Charleston.

Short post! Got to pack for Texas tomorrow! My procrastination is unwavering.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Talk to me:

Does anyone live in Los Angeles?!

Where should we look to live that is safe and relatively inexpensive?

A whirlwind.

Happy October Y'all!

October is absolutely one of my favorite months ever... right next to November (ahem: my birthday month and thanksgiving, I'm one of those that really likes thanksgiving)

Anywho!

This past week has been an absolute whirlwind.

Four 12-hour night shifts worked. I seriously had the hardest time transitioning back to real life being back to days. Let's just say there was a lot of melatonin involved and maybe wine.

One night with my military family.  I attended an awards ceremony for a wonderful lady in my husband's office. It was a great first night off from work. We celebrated on the USS Yorktown, yes, the awards ceremony was on an aircraft carrier. It was really cool, we could see the cable bridge from the ship.

Two days with my nursing school family. I'm telling you this week was non-stop. On Friday, I attended the South Carolina Student Nursing convention. Thank goodness it was in Charleston! Just being silly with my nursing friends was exactly what I needed.

Yes, we were on our way to a luau party. Don't you love our hula shirts?

This was so funny. I shirt made me want a wiener dog. Bad.

The back of our hula shirts were just as fabulous.

It wouldn't be convention without this girl.

Someone missed me this weekend. He was ALL OVER ME.

The weather in October is not disappointing at all. My cats are loving the windows being open.

Last but not least: ONE ATI-RN EXIT EXAM COMPLETE. This is the exam I needed to pass to exit my nursing program, so that my school will endorse me to take the NCLEX, which is my state boards to be a registered nurse. I'm over the moon excited. No extra classes for me.

All of these, were completely necessary so you know the extent of my excitement.

I feel super productive because it's only Monday and I feel awesome.

AND I'll be taking myself on home to the motherland (Texas, duh.) on Wednesday for a week to gorge on mexican food and attend a wedding.

If you don't hear from me in a week, assume I am in a mexican food coma.

Hope you are rocking Monday and if you're not you still have 4 days to make it happen!
